Following Detention Of Its Officials, CBI To Approach SC Over Mamata-Led West Bengal Police’s Non-Cooperation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to approach the Supreme Court today (4 February) in wake of wrongful detention of its officers outside the residence of Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar. The CBI claimed that West Bengal cops were not co-operating with them in the Saradha chit fund scam investigation.
CBI interim director M Nageshwar Rao on Sunday (3 February) said that the top investigation agency will take the matter to the Supreme Court as West Bengal police is not cooperating with the agency, as reported by ANI.
Earlier, on Sunday (3 February), Kolkata witnessed high profile drama after the city police detained CBI officials who arrived at Commissioner Rajeev Kumar’s residence in connection with the chit fund scam investigation.
It was followed by a team of Kolkata police reaching the CBI state headquarters in the city. After the police team left, a CRPF squad was dispatched to the state headquarters.
However, the detained CBI officials were later released by the Kolkata Police.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also swung into action and sat on a ‘Save The Constitution’ protest along with various individuals including the Kolkata Police Chief who was earlier said to have been absconding.
