The AAP on Thursday (10 May) accused BJP Lok Sabha candidate Gautam Gambhir of spreading obscene and defamatory pamphlets against his opponent Aatishi Marlena.

The pamphlet made wild claims about Marlena and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodiya and was shared with media persons by the duo at a press conference in the national capital.

Gambhir vehemently denied the allegations and accused Kejriwal of being behind the idea of the pamphlet and slammed him for outraging the modesty of a woman, all trying to win elections.

He also challenged both Kejriwal and Marlena to prove the allegations. If proven, he vowed to quit politics and if not he asked whether both of them would do the same.

He also promised that he would send a defamation notice against the AAP leaders for tarnishing his image and came through on it later in the night when Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodiya and Atishi Marlena were officially served the same.

In the defamation notice Gambhir categorically and vehemently denied the allegations and claimed that they have been levelled to “demoralise and adversely affect” his election campaign. The notice also brought into question the timing of the allegations which came just three days prior to the polling in Delhi on 12 May.

The notice thus asks the AAP trio to withdraw the statements and apologise or risk legal proceedings.
