The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday (9 May) hurled a big accusation on cricketer turned BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir that he is responsible for spreading sleazy and defamatory pamphlets against his opponent Aatishi Marlena.

The letter makes wild and defamatory claims about Marlena and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodiya and ends with an appeal to not vote for the AAP candidate. This letter was circulated on social media by various top AAP leaders and the party’s official account.

These serious allegations resulted in a strong backlash from Gambhir who accused Kejriwal of being behind the idea of the pamphlet and slammed him for outraging the modesty of a woman, all for winning elections.

He also challenged both Kejriwal and Marlena to prove the allegations. If proven, he vowed to quit politics and if not he asked whether both of them would do the same.

He also expressed shame over having someone like Kejriwal as his Chief Minister. Gambhir has also vowed to file defamation case against the AAP leaders.

Earlier, Gambhir had been accused of having multiple voter id cards by Marlena and other AAP functionaries, a charge which was subsequently found to be false.
