Karnataka has had three Corona fatalities so far. Of which only one was said to have no history of international travel so far. But investigations have now revealed that the 60 year old man from Shira in Tumakuru district who passed away on 27 March had also attended the Tablighi Jamaat Conference at the Nizamuddin Banglewali Markaz in Delhi.

The man who is said to have three wives and 16 children was earlier said to have stayed at the Jamia Masjid in Delhi. But as Minister for Health tweeted today, the deceased was among 45 people from the state who attended the religious meet on 10 March.

He is said to have had atleast 400 primary contacts as reported. Of his primary contacts, his 13 year old son is one among the cases tested positive on 30 March and is in isolation at a designated hospital in Tumakuru.

Thirteen others who attended the congregation have been now identified and kept in isolation centres. Efforts are on to trace the others and those they would have come in contact.

Karnataka’s first Corona related death which was also the country’s first Covid fatality was also a 76 year old religious preacher Mohammed Hussain Siddiqui, who had returned from a trip to Saudi Arabia.

The state’s second Corona related death was reported yesterday as a 75-year-old from Gauribiddanur who had returned from Mecca who was being treated at Bowring Hospital in Bengaluru passed away on 26 March.
