The International Court of Justice at The Hague is set to deliver its judgement in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case at 6:30 pm today (17 July).

Legal teams of India and Pakistan have reached the Peace Palace, where the court has its seat, to participate in the proceedings of the world court.

The proceedings of the court are being broadcast live.

India had moved the court after Pakistan kidnapped Jadhav, an Indian citizen and a former officer of the Indian Navy, from Iran and accused him of espionage.

During the hearings, New Delhi claimed Islamabad violated the Vienna Convention by not granting India consular access to Jadhav after his arrest. It had also raised questions over the independence of the Pakistani judiciary.

After hearing Pakistan’s arguments in response to India’s claims, a 10-member bench of the court had restrained Islamabad in May 2017 from executing Jadhav till the adjudication of the case.

The court had also not allowed Pakistan to play the so-called "confessional statement" of Jadhav that it had recorded after his arrest.

India has demanded Jadhav’s release.
