The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has chosen the stretch between Billimora and Surat of Ahmedabad Mumbai high-speed rail corridor to operationalise the first stretch of the bullet train, Indian Express has reported. The stretch has been chosen as it is relatively straight and it can be completed before 15 August 2022, the 75th year of independence. The current government plans to launch part of the program before the historic occasion. The train will complete the 40-kilometre stretch in 15 minutes. The complete corridor is expected to be ready by 2023.

Personnel from India will be trained to handle the project starting from February 2019 in Vadodara. Two floors of the five-storey building will be ready by then. Chief Project Manager (Vadodara), NHSRCL Pradeep Ahirkar told Indian Express that the project was on track. A five-hectare training campus will be ready in Vadodara by 2020.

Already 1,500 personnel have been given short-term training in Japan. 60 others have received long-term job training in Japan. Another batch will be leaving for long-term training for the project in October. The training institute being built in Vadodara will have a 50-meter track of the bullet train for simulation.
