Police Detains Pet Dog For Campaigning For PM Modi In Maharashtra’s Nandurbar On Voting Day

The Maharashtra Police on Monday (29 April) detained a pet dog and his owner as they were ‘campaigning’ for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in North Maharashtra’s Nandurbar town while polling was underway for the Lok Sabha fourth phase, Press Trust of India has reported.
As per the report, the dog was covered with pro-Modi stickers by his owner Eknath Motiram Chaudhary. The stickers reportedly sported messages like Modi Lao, Desh Bachao (Bring Modi to save the country).
While the dog, owner were walking about town, residents complained against this poll violation to the police. The authorities then eventually spotted them near the Andhare hospital.
The duo were then taken to the police station and booked under section 171 (A) of the IPC for violating election rules which prohibit campaigning on polling day.
The dog would reportedly be sent to the custody of municipality officials.
Incidentally, it is not the only time dogs have made news this election season. It was reported that a street dog went viral on social media for tearing down a Congress flag from a staircase railing.
