Rahul is a maths graduate from Patna University and has a postgraduate diploma in broadcast journalism from Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi.
He started his career as a TV journalist and worked for around 2.5 years with a regional news channel as a copy editor, bulletin producer, and a news anchor.
He joined IIM Ahmedabad in 2005 to pursue Post Graduate Diploma in Management. His first venture was crickstock.com (Cricket Stock Exchange) – a virtual gaming website based on cricket – while he was still at the IIM-A campus in 2007.The website was subsequently sold off to a US-based gaming website. He did some independent management consulting before launching Faking News in September 2008.
In May 2013, Faking News was acquired by Network 18. He continued to work as an editor at First Post.
As part of the Swarajya Leadership Team, Rahul will work on envisioning new products and help build a digital growth strategy.
Swarajya was independent India’s first magazine that advocated less government and more freedom. It stood for individual liberty, freedom of enterprise and pride in India’s rich civilizational heritage. The magazine was founded in 1956 by Shri Rajagopalachari aka Rajaji, a towering political personality and widely respected statesman of India. It ceased publication in late 1970’s.
Swarajya was relaunched in late 2014 as a daily digital platform. In January 2015 Swarajya launched its flagship monthly print magazine. The magazine is edited by R.Jaganathan and Sandipan Deb, two of India’s best known editors.
