SpiceJet Flies To The Rescue: Hires 500 Former Jet Employees, Including 100 Pilots; Open To Recruiting More

India's second largest carrier SpiceJet has already absorbed over 500 employees of the now grounded airline Jet Airways, including 100 pilots, 200 cabin crew staff and over 200 technical and airport staff, reports Hindustan Times.
The carrier remains open to induct many more as it adds more aircrafts and routes and would be giving first preference to Jet Airways staff in recruitment, said SpiceJet chairman and managing director Ajay Singh.
The airline jumped into action right after the collapse of Jet Airways became apparent, while the temporary shutdown of its operations has only added to the actions taken by SpiceJet to expand and make up for the lost number of seats in the market.
In this view, the Gurgaon based no-frills airline has already announced the induction of 27 planes -22 Boeing 737s and five turboprop Bombardier Q400s - in the fleet to help overcome to an extent the capacity deficit.
The carrier on Thursday (18 April 2019) announced the launch of 24 new flights connecting Mumbai & Delhi with 16 services to Mumbai and four to Delhi while the remaining four connecting the two metros.
These flights are set to be rolled out between 26 April and 2 May. This is expected to create further recruitment by the carrier as its aggressive expansion continues.
