UP Police Team Reaches Mumbai To Interrogate Tandav Makers As New FIRs Continue To Be Filed

Increasing the trouble for makers of web series 'Tandav', a team of Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police reached Mumbai on Wednesday to question them, reports Hindustan Times.
Numerous FIRs have been registered in UP against director Ali Abbas Zafar, Amazon Prime's India head Aparna Purohit, producer Himanshu Kishan Mehra, writer Gaurav Solanki and actors of the web series for inappropriate depiction of Hindu deities and hurting religious sentiments.
Complaint has also been filed against the makers of ‘Tandav’ under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in Rabupura.
BJP MLA Vikram Veer Singh from Katra constituency in Uttar Pradesh has lodged another complaint against director Abbas and actors Saif Ali Khan and Zeeshan Ayyub.
The web series starring the likes of Dimple Kapadia, Saif Ali Khan and Sunil Grover has come under fire over allegations of mocking and targeting Lord Shiva in the series, with many on social media terming it as Hinduphobic content.
Under fire over his controversial web series, Tandav, director Ali Abbas Zafar on Monday (18 January) released what he called an 'unconditional apology'.
In the apology, Zafar wrote the standard response that the cast and crew did not intend to offend any sentiments of any "individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious beliefs" etc and ended the statement by saying that the Tandav team unconditionally apologizes if it has unintentionally hurt anybody's sentiments.
This apology though was heavily panned by social media users who refused to accept the same and cited his repeated offences.
Many said that they are not accepting the apology and that the legal proceedings against the show should continue.
