Lord Ganesha at Lalbaugcha Raja (@LalbaugchaRaja/Twitter)
The long wait of devotees was finally over on Thursday (13 September) when they got a chance to pay renewed obeisance to Lord Ganesha on the very pious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Crores around the globe began celebrating the eleven day festival to mark the birth of the god of wisdom and the remover of all obstacles.
The centre point of the festivities as always is Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. In the complete duration of the festival, the city transforms into a hub of vibrancy bringing joys into people’s lives.
Excitement began from the early hours of Thursday (13 September) when devotees in large numbers lined up to take darshan at the very famous Lalbaugcha Raja which sports the biggest Ganesha idol.
The excitement was also visible at the glorious Siddhi Vinayak temple which too witnessed a large crowd, patiently waiting to offer prayers to Lord Ganesha.
The festival also transcended all borders and to much delight of many, scenes of jubilation were witnessed during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at a temple in Uganda’s Entebbe.
