Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal at Bengaluru (Ministry of Railways)
India’s first centralised air-conditioned (AC) terminal is ready for inauguration in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Named after the great Indian civil engineer and Bharat Ratna, Sir M Visvesvaraya, the centralised AC terminal is now ready for operations.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal shared a video with some glimpses of the new centralised AC terminal.
The railway station has been provided with enhanced passenger amenities, adequate parking spaces, beautiful landscape, and infrastructure.
Indian Railways plans to build world class railway stations along with redevelopment of the existing ones.
Railways is executing the development of 50 major stations including New Delhi, Guwahati, Patna, Gwalior, Surat, Tirupati, Chandigarh, Anand Vihar Nagpur and CST in Mumbai.
Also as part of its station redevelopment plan, Indian Railway aims to attract an investment of Rs 50,000 crore by opening up about 20 million sq ft of real estate.
The government on Wednesday 11 March said that the railways will be carrying out the techno-economic feasibility studies for the redevelopment of six railway stations in Bihar, three in Jharkhand and one in Jammu and Kashmir.
