Trial run of freight train on the Western Dedicated Corridor (Facebook)
A 306 km section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corriodor (WDFC) flagged off on Sunday (30 December). A video of the same was shared by North Western Railways. This section will connect Madar (Ajmer) and Kishangarh Balawas (Rewari) and has been described as another milestone for Indian Railways.
On 15 August 2018, a freight train ran between 192 km long Ateli-Phulera section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) for the first time. The freight train was flagged off from the New Ateli station in a big ceremony.
Expected to be completed in 2020, the 1,504 km long WDFC will connect the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust near Navi Mumbai and Dadri in Uttar Pradesh. It will pass through major regions like Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Palanpur, Phulera and Rewari.
