US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has shared a video claiming that the people of Iraq are celebrating and dancing over the killing of Major General Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' (IRGC) elite Quds Force, reports Asian News International.
The 22-second video was shared by Pompeo via his official twitter handle which shows a group of people running on a road carrying several meter-long Iraqi flag. The video belongs to some unspecified location in Iraq.
The video was share a couple of hours after the US Department of Defence (DoD) confirmed killing of Soleimani in a “decisive defensive action”.
“At the direction of the President, the U.S. military has taken decisive defensive action to protect U.S. personnel abroad by killing Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization,” the DoD said in a statement.
Additionally, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) has also confirmed the incident, adding that its public relations director Mohammed Reza al-Jaberi and four other members were also killed after three Katyusha rockets struck a military base next to the Baghdad airport earlier on Friday.
