Yogi Govt Orders Anti-CAA Protesters To Pay Rs 1 Crore As Reimbursement For Security Arrangements

The Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has ordered 114 anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) protesters to cough up Rs 1 crore as reimbursement for the cost incurred by the state in making security arrangements, Times Now has reported.
As per the report, Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi is among those fined by the state government. Pratapgarhi has been ordered to pay Rs 1.04 crore for violating Section 144 by addressing an anti-CAA protest in Moradabad. The Congress leader has also been accused of provoking anti-CAA protesters in a bid to cause communal tension.
It may be recalled that soon after violence by anti-CAA protesters in the state, Yogi Adityanath had announced that his government would seize the assets of the rioters to recover the cost of damaged public property.
Subsequently the government had issued notices to anti-CAA rioters to defend their property seizure notices. Anti-CAA protesters in Aligarh were also made to sign Rs 50 lakh bonds with an assurance that they will not indulge in such activities in the future.
