Swami Paripoornananda who was exile from Hyderabad for six months, on allegations that he made incendiary statements in public, is said to have been chosen to lead the BJP in Telangana, the New Indian Express has reported.

Sripeetam seer Swami Paripoornananda, touted as the ‘Yogi of South’ is reported to have met BJP chief Amit Shah on Monday (8 October) along with Ram Madhav and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath to discuss plans. Reports also propose the possibility of his chief ministerial candidacy and that he would be asked to contest from the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency by the party.

“We held detailed deliberations on dharma and values of the country. We also discussed plans. All decisions are to be made by Amit Shah, I will do whatever he wants me to do,” he said after meeting with the BJP chief. “The guidelines too would be announced by Amit Shah. I have no personal interests,” he added.

He hinted at the possibility of a decision to be chalked out post Navaratri and said he would be taking part in the Dasara celebrations at Sree Peetham after which he plans to start campaigning for BJP.

Swami Paripoorananda was given a rousing welcome by thousands of workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), VHP, RSS and Bajrang Dal, all along the Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway on Tuesday (4 September) when he was back in Hyderabad after being exiled.

Paripoornananda was externed from Hyderabad for six months, on allegations that he made incendiary statements in public. The action came two days after the exile of film critic Kathi Mahesh from the city for alleged sacrilegious comments against Hindu Gods.
