News Brief
Nayab Saini
A day after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Saini moved the Motion of Confidence in the state Legislative Assembly and won it through the voice vote on Wednesday (13 March).
The Opposition asked for secret voting but the Speaker denied it saying that "there is no such provision in our rules."
In his address, while bringing the Motion of Confidence, Saini highlighted his humble family background and that he was just a small party worker. He said that it was only possible in the BJP that he became the CM.
Earlier, BJP's former ally Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) had asked its MLAs to remain "absent" from the Haryana Assembly at the time of voting on the trust vote by issuing a whip.
However, only five of the 10 JJP MLAs walked out after Saini moved the Motion of Confidence. Other five remained in the Assembly during the voting.
