A video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi offering a biscuit to a dog and then offering the same biscuit to one of his supporters after the dog refused is going viral on social media (SM).
Posting a clip of this video, co-convenor of BJP Mumbai (IT and SM cell) Pallavi CT said, "How shameless... First, Rahul Gandhi made Himanta Biswa Sarma ji eat biscuits from the same plate as his pet dog Pidi."
"Then Congress President Kharge ji compares party workers to dogs and now, Shehzada gives a biscuit rejected by a dog to a party worker. This is the RESPECT they have for their party workers, supporters and voters?," she added.
Responding to this, the Assam Chief Minister said, "Pallavi ji, not only Rahul Gandhi but the entire family could not make me eat that biscuit. I am a proud Assamese and Indian. I refused to eat and resign from the Congress."
It is pertinent to mention that Sarma was a Congress member till 2015, after which he joined the BJP ahead of the 2016 Assam elections. He had narrated this dog incident a while ago.
Sarma had disclosed that Rahul Gandhi offered the same biscuits to Congress leaders that his dog Pidi had eaten. After this meeting, Sarma decided that "enough is enough" and he should leave the party.
Regarding the viral video, Tehseen Poonawalla posted a complete clip where it can be seen that Rahul Gandhi gave the biscuit to the dog parent who feeds his dog. The person is then seen feeding the biscuit to the dog.
