Tamil Nadu BJP Passes Resolution Against Chief Minister MK Stalin, RS Bharathi And Sivaji Krishnamurthy For Derogatory Remarks Against Governor

At the state executive meeting held in Cuddalore today (20 January), the Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) moved a resolution against Chief Minister MK Stalin, DMK Organisation Secretary RS Bharathi and DMK leader Sivaji Krishnamurthy for their disrespectful remarks against Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi.

While Stalin had derogatorily referred to the Governor in the 'singular', Bharathi had said that 'North Indians sell panipuri in Tamil Nadu, Governor is like one of them.' Krishnamurthy had said that a terrorist should be sent to kill the Governor.

These remarks were made during the protests organised by the DMK and its allies against the Governor's remarks on 'Tamizhagam.'

BJP state president K Annamalai had then said that the protests were because the DMK was trying to bury its secessionist past and divert attention from misgovernance.

The Governor later said that his remarks should not be interpreted as a suggestion to change the name of the state to 'Tamizhagam' from the existing Tamil Nadu.

While the DMK suspended Krishnamurthy from the party, it has not taken any action against Bharathi.

Meanwhile, Governor Ravi has filed a criminal defamation suit under Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Krishnamurthy. It was submitted in the Principal District Sessions Court at Chennai by city public prosecutor, G Devarajan.
