KN Nehru and Tiruchi Siva
Supporters of Municipalities minister KN Nehru threw stones and damaged vehicles at the house of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Rajya Sabha MP Tiruchi Siva after his supporters showed black flags at the convoy of the minister.
Nehru was in Tiruchirapalli to inaugurate a badminton court that was built through public contribution.
Siva's supporters who were unhappy that their leader was not invited to the function waved black flags at Nehru's convoy when it passed in front of Siva's residence.
After the event, Nehru's supporters retaliated by allegedly damaging a car and two bikes that were parked in the house. They also threw stones.
Siva's supporters reportedly protected themselves by locking themselves in the house.
After arriving at the spot, the police detained some of Siva's supporters who had waved black flags and took them to a police station.
On getting to know this, Nehru's supporters barged into the police station and beat them up. A policewoman who resisted their entry was injured in the clash.
While Siva was not at home during the incident, his son-in-law said that it was shameful that the police had failed in its duty to provide security to the family of an MP of the ruling party.
A few months ago, Nehru was seen pushing and shoving people after a public event. Before that, he was seen slapping a Tiruchirapalli councillor at a programme to distribute water pots to women.
Both Siva and Nehru are from Tiruchirapalli. While Siva is a four-time Rajya Sabha MP, Nehru is a five-time MLA and a senior minister in the state government.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
