Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state vice president Sasikala Pushpa's house and car were attacked by goons suspected to be having ties to Geetha Jeevan, the Minister for Women Empowerment and Social Justice in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government.
From the pictures and videos on social media, it can be seen that the goons smashed the window panes and broke the flower pots and chairs kept in front of her house. Later they severely damaged the car by breaking its windows and the windshield.
Sasikala Pushpa was not at home during the incident as she had gone to Nagercoil to attend a party meeting.
She is a former Mayor of Tuticorin and MP who was expelled from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in 2016 for slapping DMK MP Tiruchi Siva, for his remarks against then chief minister J Jayalalitha.
Few days earlier, in a similar incident of vandalism, a car belonging to a former minister of the AIADMK, MR Vijayabhaskar was attacked with acid and Thiruvika, a candidate for the post of panchayat vice-chairman was allegedly abducted by goons in broad daylight.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
