Karnataka: BJP Campaign Shifts Gears With Amit Shah And J P Nadda Rallies; PM Modi To Join On 29 April

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is throwing its entire organisational weight behind in the upcoming Karnataka elections, with Union Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda holding rallies on Monday (April 24) in different parts of Karnataka.

The Union Home Minister is on a three-day visit to the state that began on Sunday.

Shah’s day began with a roadshow at Gundlupet (Chamarajanagar) on Monday, followed by a visit to the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysore.

He later held another roadshow in Sakleshpur (Hassan). On Tuesday (April 25) he will address public rallies at Teradal (Bagalkot), Devarhippargi (Vijayapura), and Yadgiri, where he will also hold a roadshow.

The Home Minister previously held two rallies at Devanagere and Devanahalli (Tumkur) – both regions dominated by the Lingayat community, BJP’s core voter base in the state.

BJP President JP Nadda’s campaign is also set to start on Monday (April 24). He will participate in a roadshow in Sidlaghatta (Chikkaballapur) and visit a temple at Sirsi in Uttara Kannada district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to enter the campaigning on 29 April, next week. According to reports, he will begin his campaign from Belgavi, and then visit Chikodi, Kittur, and Kudachi, Belagavi in North Karnataka.

Several Union Ministers are set to join the campaign. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address four election rallies on April 26 and 29, and later on May 5 and 7. Textile Minister Smriti Irani will also address eight rallies between April 25 and May 6.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will hold four public meetings on April 26 and 30, and later on May 6 and 7. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will address five public meetings between May 3 and 5.

As per reports, a minimum of two leaders from outside the state have been deployed in each Lok Sabha constituency.
