BEML Limited, a defence PSU, has announced that it is executing an export order for supply of construction equipment for Cassava project of Cameroon, a central African country, the company said in a statement on Thursday (11 August).
The Cameroon Cassava project is aimed to improve cassava varieties on a surface of eight hectares with an expected outlay of 800,000 cuttings, which would be distributed to farmers to enhance farm production.
BEML is executing export order valuing $19.76 million with central African nation Cameroon's Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT) for supply of 71 Earth moving machinery for preparation of agricultural land for Cassava Project under Government of India Line of Credit, the company said.
At a function held at BEML’s KGF Complex, the equipment was handed over to Zoutene Doufene, Director General, MINEPAT, Government of Cameroon, by Amit Banerjee, CMD BEML and Harsha Bangari, Managing Director & CEO, Exim Bank of India.
BEML Director (Mining & Construction) MV Rajasekhar, senior officials from Cameroon, Exim Bank of India and BEML were also present on the occasion.
The defence PSU had received the export order from Cameroon in March last year.
The construction equipment to be supplied under the order consisted of bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, motor graders and compactors for the Cassava Farm Project.
