Chennai Metro Phase II: Tata Projects To Build Four Underground Metro Stations Worth Rs 1,205 Crore

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) has recently signed a contract agreement with Tata Projects Ltd. It has been issued a letter of acceptance (LOA) for a contract worth Rs 1,205 crore.
This contract is part of the funding provided by JICA for Phase II of the project.
The scope of work for this contract includes the construction of four underground stations at Otteri, Pattalam, Perambur Barracks Road, and Kellys.
Additionally, it also involves various works, excluding the diaphragm wall, for two underground stations at Ayanavaram and Purasaiwakkam High Road-Cum-Crossover Box along corridor-3 of Phase-II. This information has been provided in the CMRL press release.
Phase II comprises three corridors: Madhavaram to SIPCOT (corridor-3), Light House to Poonamallee (corridor-4), and Madhavaram to Sholinganallur (corridor-5).
The 118.1 km Chennai metro Phase-II project is expected to cost approximately Rs 61,843 crore.
Corridor-3 runs across the eastern side of the city, linking suburban areas like Madhavaram Milk Colony and Old Mahabalipuram Road with core city areas like Chetpet, Nungambakkam, Mylapore, and Adyar.
CMRL managing director, M A Siddique, stated that phase-2 will be completed in stages between 2026 and 2028.
