NCRTC managing director Vinay Kumar Singh inspected the construction work on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor on Saturday (15 April).
He was accompanied by all the directors and other officials of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
During the visit, he took an overview of the construction work of all the stations and the viaduct from Murad Nagar to Shatabdi Nagar (Meerut).
This is package-3 of NCRTC's construction plan, which includes Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modinagar North, Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani and Shatabdi Nagar stations.
The inspection started from Muradnagar station. Track laying work between Duhai to Muradnagar has already been completed and a high-speed trial run of RAPIDX trains is being carried on up to Muradnagar.
The concourse and the platform level of the station are ready and the installation of lifts and escalators along with finishing work has now commenced. In this station, two entry-exit gates are being built, the construction of which is in progress.
After this, the NCRTC MD took stock of the construction work of Modi Nagar South and Modi Nagar North stations.
The construction of both these stations is progressing at pace. The construction of the concourse and the platform level of these stations has been completed and the installation of the pre-fabricated roof of the stations is to commence soon.
With the completion of these two stations being built in Modi Nagar, it will be very easy for the residents of the area to travel towards Delhi and Meerut.
After this, he inspected the construction work of Meerut South station, which has four levels — ground, mezzanine, concourse and platform level.
The RRTS viaduct is passing over the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in this section, due to which the height of this station is comparatively much higher.
The construction of the mezzanine and the concourse level of this station has been completed and the construction of the platform level of the station is progressing at pace.
Local metro service in Meerut will start from this station, for which an additional platform will be built and a third track will be laid in the station.
Taking the tour further, the officials took stock of the construction work of Shatabdi Nagar station.
The construction work of the concourse level of the station has been completed and construction of the platform level is progressing at pace, stated the officials.
This section from Muradnagar to Shatabdi Nagar is about 31 km long. Viaduct construction has been completed in about 27 km, out of the 31km in this section. The work of laying track ahead from Murad Nagar is going to commence soon.
During the inspection, Singh complimented the officials for the speedy construction work of the corridor and also instructed the officials to follow the safety and security norms during the construction works.
It is noteworthy that in the second phase of the operation of RAPIDX trains will be between Murad Nagar to Meerut South station. At present, the priority section is ready for the operation of trains.
