Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS: Track Laying Complete, Over 75 Per Cent Of OHE Installed In Duhai-Sahibabad Priority SectionFour RRTS trainsets reached the Duhai depot in Ghaziabad.

NCRTC has completed the track laying work on the 17-km long priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.

The Duhai-Sahibabad priority section, with five stations, is part of the 82-km RRTS between the national capital and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.

With the completion of the track laying process, NCRTC has crossed a major milestone towards the implementation of RRTS and the next big step would be launching the trial run.

According to NCRTC, preparations are on for the trial run in the priority section for which necessary arrangements are being carried out at a pace.

About 34 km of track (17 km viaduct) has been laid in this section to make RRTS operational. Along with this, the installation of OHE and Signalling equipment in the priority section is also progressing at pace.

So far, the installation of over 75 per cent Over Head Equipment (OHE) on the viaduct has been completed.

The construction of the viaduct was completed in the priority section in
October, following which the installation of OHE began.

At present, more than three-fourths of this work has been completed. Soon the OHE being installed over the RRTS track will be energised with a capacity of 25,000 volts.

In order to supply power for the operations of the priority section, an agreement has been signed with Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPTCL) in Uttar Pradesh.

Four RRTS trainsets have already reached Duhai Depot and presently various dynamic and static testing are being carried out on them.

NCRTC has also successfully completed the dynamic test run of the RRTS trainset with the ETCS- 2 Signalling over LTE communication network, on the test tracks in Duhai Depot.

The test run was successful and the signalling system and the RRTS trainset operated with each other as per the technical expectations.

There are five stations in this entire section - Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

At present, the finishing touches as well as the installation of escalators and lifts are being carried out at these stations. The construction of amenities for commuters and counters is also in the final stages.

NCRTC has set a target to start operating RRTS trains in the priority section by next year in March and on the entire corridor in 2025.
