Delhi - Mumbai Expressway Will Be The Most Important Artery Of Indian Economy: Anand Mahindra
Sohna - Dausa of Delhi - Mumbai Expressway (@nitin_gadkari/Twitter)Terming the upcoming Delhi - Mumbai Expressway as the ‘artery of India’s economic highway,’ the chairman of Mahindra group Anand Mahindra thanked Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways.
He said that the new expressway would cut travel time and thus boost India’s GDP growth in many ways.
“This is going to be the most critical artery of India’s economic highway. Cutting down transit times on such vital connectivity links will boost our GDP growth rates in immeasurable ways. Can’t wait to glide down it. Well done and thank you, Nitin Gadkari,” Anand Mahindra said.
The 1,450 km Delhi - Mumbai Expressway (DME) is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,03,000 crore.
The highway will originate near Gurugram at Sohna and terminate at Mumbai. The expressway will cut the distance between the national and financial capital of India by 280 kms.
At nearly 1,450 kms, it will be India’s longest expressway and will reduce travel time between Delhi and Mumbai from 24 hours to 13 hours.
The expressway traverses through five states: Haryana, Rajasthan , Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
DME would improve access to economic hubs such as Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the 293 km long Sohna (Haryana) to Dausa (Rajasthan) section of the Delhi - Mumbai Expressway on 12 February.
