According to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Dwarka Expressway is nearing completion and will be operational shortly.

Once operational, the Expressway will enable residents of Dwarka and old Gurugram regions to reach Jaipur via Sohna using the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway within a mere two-hour travel time, as stated by the Minister.

Additionally, the Minister mentioned that this project will help reduce the traffic load on the Gurugram-Jaipur National Highway.

"The work on the new Outer Ring Road being constructed in Delhi would be completed in the next six months. As soon as this construction is completed, the journey from Panipat to IGI Airport will be completed in a quarter of the time instead of two hours, which will save both time and fuel," the Union Minister said.

The Dwarka Expressway will be the country’s first eight-lane elevated urban expressway, between Dwarka in New Delhi and Gurugram.

The expressway is anticipated to bring new opportunities for the real estate sector in its surrounding regions.

The 29-km-long Dwarka expressway branches out from NH-8 near Shiv Murti, passing through Dwarka, and ends near NH-8 in Gurgaon near the Kherki Daula toll plaza.

Being built at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore — 18.9 km of this expressway falls in Gurugram and 10.1 km in Delhi.

Of the total span of the expressway, 23 km is elevated and about 4 km of tunnel is being constructed.

A 3.6-km-long tunnel is being constructed from Dwarka Expressway to Palam Airport. Work on the Gurugram portion of the expressway has reached 99.3 per cent completion.

The Union Ministry Nitin Gadkari, had in May 2023 inspected the expressway.

Additionally, the work on the construction of the cloverleaf section of the expressway has been completed.

Once ready, the four loops of the flyover will allow seamless movement towards key routes to get to the Delhi airport, Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, Dwarka Expressway, SPR and the under-construction Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
