A massive recruitment drive has been launched by Indian Railways to fill over 1.5 lakh posts in different categories with the entire hiring process expected to complete by June 2023.

Examinations are being held for filling up 150,077 posts in different categories ranging from Level 1 to Level 6 across the country.

Currently, the process involving computer-based test, physical test, medical test and certificate verifications are being carried out for recruitment of railway helpers, loco drivers, guards, station masters and commercial clerks among other posts, said a senior Railway Ministry official.

While for the Level 1, an exercise is going on to employ 103,769 track maintainers and helpers, the recruitment process is in the advance stage for filing up 35,281 posts of station masters, guards, traffic assistants and ticket clerks in the Level 2 to Level 6 categories.

Besides, there are about 11,000 standby candidates empanelled for Assistant Loco Pilots, technicians and Junior Engineers post.

According to the Railways, all the stages of recruitment of all five levels of Non-technical Popular Category (NTPC) have been completed and evaluation of the scripts of Skill Test is under process by each Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).

Results of Level 6 have been declared from 6 September 2022 onwards by all 21 Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB). RRBs have already initiated the process of Document Verification and Medical Examination of shortlisted candidates for Level 6 posts.

Thereafter, final empanelment list for Level 6 will be declared.

The Railways maintain that empanelling candidates sequentially for each level is in the interest of candidates as it will ensure that one candidate is empanelled against one post only.

RRBs are taking all steps to ensure early empanelment of all levels in a time bound manner.

The joining of candidates will be done by the concerned Zonal Railways for each level immediately after empanelment for that level is notified by each RRB.

The Railways reiterated that candidates have been advised to concentrate on preparing for recruitment activities being conducted by RRBs.

And that they should not interfere with the processes being adopted by RRBs which are in accordance with notifications issued in this matter, solely keeping the interest of candidates in totality.
