Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that the Kargil-Zanskar intermediate lane on national highway (NH)-301, in Ladakh, is being upgraded.
Strengthening of the intermediate lane on NH-301 in Ladakh aims to ensure smooth passage to the bordering areas and help increase economic activities.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) Gadkari said that the total length of the project is 31.14 km and falls under package-6.
The main aim of this effort is to boost economic growth in the area, by providing a reliable and accessible link for both commuters and the movement of goods in the interior zones, the Minister added.
The upgraded highway is expected to ensure year-round accessibility, which will greatly benefit the local economy and the inhabitants of the region.
Gadkari further expressed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ambitious project is dedicated to achieving swift, hassle-free, and environmentally conscious mobility in the Ladakh region.

Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
