  • The Belagavi Aerospace Special Economic Zone is the largest, private aerospace manufacturing ecosystem in India.
  • Bikar to leverage the strategic location to service manufacturing units in India’s Aerospace triangle of Belagavi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
  • German aerospace materials supplier 'Bikar Aerospace' has chosen the Belagavi Aerospace Cluster (BAC), operated by Aequs Infrastructure, as the location for its advanced Aerospace Service Centre.

In a statement, the company said it had opted for a strategic presence at Aequs SEZ in Belagavi to expand its market presence and strengthen its position as a premier international supplier of aerospace materials.

Bikar will provide storage and customised processing of semi-finished products made of aluminium, titanium, super alloys and other aerospace metals.

    Belagavi Aerospace Cluster

The Belagavi Aerospace Cluster (BAC) is India’s first notified Aerospace Manufacturing SEZ, located in Karnataka.

The Belagavi Aerospace SEZ is the largest, private aerospace manufacturing ecosystem in India.

Founded in 2009, this vertically integrated aerospace manufacturing ecosystem is spread over an area of over 250 acres, hosting 30+ units, with over 1 million square feet of manufacturing area.

With an occupant list reflecting the who’s who from Aerospace, it hosts India’s largest machining facility of 100,000 sq/ft dedicated to Airbus.

Units at the BAC deliver end-to-end capabilities based on robust systems and processes approved by global aerospace majors. They specialise in supplying aero systems, landing gear and structural assemblies and components among others.

    A Perfect Location

Belagavi Aerospace Cluster, geographically placed in India's aerospace triangle of Belagavi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is the ideal location for Bikar's expansion goals.

With more than 30 manufacturing facilities on the BAC campus and established aerospace manufacturing hubs in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, Bikar is well-positioned to serve the region's aerospace industries.

By establishing a presence at the BAC, Bikar hopes to capitalise on the favourable environment and co-located capabilities to provide efficient services that fulfil the diversified needs of its customers.

Aques anticipates opening its new facility in the first quarter of 2024, further demonstrating its dedication to growing its aerospace market share and broadening its global operations.

Aequs chairman Aravind Melligeri said BAC hosts a vertically integrated manufacturing ecosystem with co-located capabilities that deliver an end-to-end manufacturing value stream, according to the Times of India report.

Aerospace Service Centre at the Belagavi Aerospace Cluster will be a significant development for the aerospace industry in India.

The move will strengthen Bikar's position as a premier international supplier of aerospace materials and also enhance the cluster's reputation as a hub for aerospace manufacturing and services.
