Madhya Pradesh Rolls Out Plan For High-Speed ‘Vande Metro’ Across Major Cities

The Madhya Pradesh government is gearing up to introduce "Vande Metro" projects in key urban areas to enhance public transport, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced during a recent development review meeting in Indore.

The initiative is part of the state's broader strategy to modernise and expand urban transport infrastructure.

Yadav highlighted that the proposed Vande Metro, capable of reaching speeds up to 160 km/h, will double the current metro rail's maximum speed of 80 km/h. This speed increase is expected to make commuting more efficient and reduce travel times for passengers.

The chief minister also confirmed plans to connect Ujjain to the metro network ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2028, a significant religious event that attracts millions of visitors.

The seating arrangement is designed as a 3X3 bench system to maximise passenger capacity and offer optimum comfort for medium-distance travel. Coaches will have a wheelchair-accessible lavatory.

For the safety of passengers, there is a talkback system so that the driver can communicate in case of an emergency. To prevent collisions, the train will be equipped with the Kavach system.

For the comfort of passengers, the passageway, which connects two coaches will be wide-like corridors for easy movement within the train. The entry doors are also spacious and wide with openable windows for an emergency.

In addition, Yadav emphasised the government’s commitment to expediting the Indore metro project, with the development of elevated roads to ease traffic congestion in the city. These roads will complement the metro system, improving overall urban mobility, reports Financial Express.
