The construction arm of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has secured an order from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) to design and construct package number MAHSR-C-5 of the Mumbai Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project, the first High-Speed Rail (HSR) corridor being implemented in the country.
The primary scope of work for the project comprises the design and construction of civil and building works for a double line HSR of a length of 8.1 km.
The scope also includes the Vadodara station, Confirmation Car Base, Viaduct and Bridges, Crossing Bridges, Architectural, MEP and other associated works.
The project alignment passes through Vadodara, Gujarat, and is scheduled to be completed within 49 months.
“L&T is already executing two other packages (MAHSR – C-4 and MAHSR C-6) of the high-speed corridor and takes pride in being associated with this prestigious project,” the company said.
Mumbai – Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project is a 508 km long first High-Speed Rail (HSR) network under execution in India. Out of 508 km, 352 km lies in Gujarat (348 km), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli (four km) and balance 156 km lies in Maharashtra.
The construction work is in progress in Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, where 98 per cent and 100 per cent land has been acquired, respectively. In Maharashtra, land acquisition done so far is 40 per cent.
HSR alignment passes through eight districts in Gujarat, i.e. Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Kheda and Ahmedabad. Work is in progress in all eight districts.
MAHSR project will entail an investment of Rs 72,000 crore in Gujarat in both land and construction. So far, an expenditure of Rs 14,200 crore has been made.
