The Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is advancing rapidly, with Gujarat witnessing a major transformation through the development of eight modern stations.
According to the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), structural work has been completed at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, and Vapi, and finishing activities such as interiors, roofing, and passenger facilities are now underway.
NHSRCL, which is the implementing agency for the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Corridor, said the new stations are designed not just as boarding points but as “symbols of world-class travel, comfort, and convenience.”
Each facility has been planned to highlight the cultural identity of the city it serves, with soothing interiors, aesthetic exteriors, natural lighting, and open, airy spaces aimed at creating a calm travel experience.
Sustainability features prominently in the design of the stations. Solar panels are being installed at select stations to generate clean energy, while skylights and wide openings will reduce the need for artificial lighting.
Green landscaping is being carried out with extensive plantation, along with provisions for rainwater harvesting through groundwater recharging wells.
Sewage treatment plants (STPs) will recycle water, and environment-friendly materials such as paints, tiles, and panels are being used.
For passenger convenience, multiple lifts and escalators are being installed at each station to make movement across levels smooth and accessible for all, including the elderly, differently-abled, and families with children.
Clear signage, information kiosks, and advanced public announcement systems are being set up to guide passengers efficiently.
Stations will also feature spacious waiting areas, business lounges, childcare facilities, food kiosks, retail counters, and other services.
NHSRCL added that Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Sabarmati, and Surat stations are being developed as multimodal transport hubs, offering seamless integration with Indian Railways, metro networks, buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws.
Dedicated parking facilities are also being created at all stations for commuter convenience.
Each station, the corporation said, is being developed as more than just a transit point.
“With world-class amenities blending technology with tradition and seamless integration, these stations will set new benchmarks in passenger experience,” NHSRCL noted.
