The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) launched a knowledge sharing platform today (20 June) to promote inclusive development of national highways, according to a statement from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The NHAI website will host this platform, which aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and innovative best practices among experts and citizens — in the field of road design, construction, road safety, environment sustainability, and related fields, as per a Mint report.
According to the ministry, "The platform will encourage sharing of best practices from around the world and will contribute towards holistic development of the National Highway infrastructure in the country."
The web portal will serve as a hub for experts and individuals who wish to share their expertise, experiences and ideas.
Various formats such as video clips, PowerPoint presentations, and PDF files can be uploaded on the portal. NHAI officials will review the uploaded information and evaluate its potential for implementation.
NHAI is rapidly developing the national highway infrastructure with the aid of innovation and modern technology.
In addition to the innovative use of recycled materials such as fly-ash and plastic waste, the authority is promoting sustainable and eco-friendly practices by encouraging the use of recycled asphalt (RAP) and recycled aggregates (RA) in national highway construction.
The development of national highway infrastructure, including state-of-the-art tunnels, modern bridges, wildlife corridors, and expressways, requires wider participation.
Following these advancements and approaches, the ‘knowledge sharing’ platform aims to foster engagement and collaboration among experts and citizens, enabling them to contribute their best practices and ideas to the nation-building process.
