Telangana: 96 Km Section Of Hyderabad - Indore Corridor Inaugurated, Foundation Laid For Over Rs 5,000 Crore Highway Projects

  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for National Highway Projects of a total length of 460 Km worth Rs 8,000 crore in Telangana.
  • National Highway length in Telangana state has almost doubled from 2,511 km in 2014 to 4,996 km in March 2022.
  • Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated the 96 km long section of the Hyderabad - Indore Economic corridor, which makes up most of the new corridor in Telangana.

    The four laning of this corridor (National Highway 161) was taken up at Rs 2,926 crore from Ramsanpalle to Telangana - Maharashtra border via Mangloor. The remaining part of the corridor in the state from Ramsanpalle to the outskirts of Hyderabad is under construction.

    Nitin Gadkari, on his Hyderabad tour on Friday (29 April), inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for National Highway (NH) Projects of a total length of 460 Km worth Rs 8,000 crore and seven Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) Projects.

    “The NH Projects of a total length 460 km with an investment of Rs 8,000 Crore will boost the inter state connectivity by enabling seamless travel from Telangana to Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh,” the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said.

    The national highway projects for which the foundation stone was laid include:

    1. Four laning of 46 km section of NH 163 from TSPA junction to Manneguda with Rs 928 crore,

    2. Six laning of 12 km of NH 44 from Thoundupalli to Kothur with Rs 542 crore on Hyderabad - Bangalore section of the highway,

    3. Six laning of 27 km of Hyderabad - Nagpur section of NH 44 from Kalkallu to Bowenpally via Gundlapochampally with around Rs 1,500 crore,

    4. Two laning along with paved shoulders of 46 km long NH 365-b from Duddeda to Jangaon with Rs 423 crore,

    5. Two laning along with paved shoulders of 69 km NH 930-p from Valigonda to Thorrur with Rs 549 crore

    6. Expanding 23 km long LB Nagar to Malkapur section of NH 65 (Hyderabad to Vijayawada highway) to 12 lanes with Rs 545 crore

    7. Building a six-lane flyover at BHEL junction with Rs 97 crore on Hyderabad to Pune highway

    8. Four laning of 30 km road between Hanamkonda and Mulugu districts with Rs 317 crore and six laning of a 4 km stretch of NH 163 between Hyderabad and Bhupalpatnam with Rs 48 crore

    The union minister also laid the foundation for seven road works of 106 km length in Hyderabad Secunderabad city region which will be built with Rs 154 core.

    Speaking on occasion, Gadkari said that the National Highway length in Telangana state has increased from 2,511 km in 2014 to 4,996 km in March 2022. He said that all districts except Peddapalli, that is 32 out of 33 districts in the state, have National Highway connectivity.

    The Union Minister added that around Rs three lakh crore worth of national highway works will be completed in Telangana by December 2024 from 2014.
