  • Commuters in Hyderabad will soon be able to use a common card for making travel payments on the Hyderabad Metro Rail trains and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses.

The state government has announced the launch of a Common Mobility Card, which is expected to be available by the second week of August.

Initially, the card will enable travel via Metro Rail and RTC buses, with plans to extend its usability to multi-modal transport system, cab services, and autos in the future.

This initiative aims to enhance public transportation in Hyderabad and will first be introduced in the city before being expanded across Telangana.

The IT Minister KT Rama Rao recently held a meeting with Ministers Puvvada Ajay Kumar and V Srinivas Goud to discuss the details of the common mobility card.

This meeting was crucial in finalising the implementation plan and ensuring a smooth rollout of the card.

The government is determined to make travel more convenient and accessible for commuters in Hyderabad, and this card is a significant step towards achieving that goal.

By integrating different modes of transportation, the common mobility card will provide a seamless and hassle-free experience for passengers.

The launch of the common mobility card in Hyderabad is set to revolutionise the way people travel in the city. With this card, commuters will no longer need to carry multiple cards or worry about having the exact change for their fares, according to the Telangana Today report.

The card will serve as a one-stop solution for making payments on the Hyderabad Metro Rail trains and TSRTC buses.

The ministers have requested officials to ensure that the card is available by the second week of August. They have emphasised the importance of a 'one card for all travel needs' model, which aims to allow citizens to use the common mobility card for various transactions, in addition to travel, thus simplifying payment processes.

One of the main features of the card is its nationwide applicability. Citizens who possess this card will be able to use it in other metro cities as well, including RTC buses and metro rail services that accept the National Common Mobility card system.

In an effort to involve citizens in this initiative, the state government has also asked for their participation in suggesting a name for the common mobility card.
