Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a thorough inspection of the Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar on Saturday (25 October), ahead of its reportedly tentative inauguration on 30 October.
Accompanied by local MLAs and senior officials including Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann and COO Kiran Jain, the Chief Minister toured the terminal building, reviewed terminal facilities, security arrangements, and connectivity infrastructure to ensure the airport is fully operational and meets international standards.
He also held a high-level review meeting where he emphasised the need for quality, coordination, and timely completion of all pending work, according to a PTI report.
During the inspection, Yogi stressed that the airport should become a symbol of Uttar Pradesh’s development and meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
He instructed officials to complete all civil, technical, and security-related works within the stipulated timeframe.
Yogi also examined passenger facilities, fire safety arrangements, road access, parking, lighting, water and waste management, and the upcoming metro connectivity, urging strict vigilance across all operations.
The first phase of the Noida International Airport spans 3,300 acres, featuring a single runway and an annual passenger capacity of 1.2 crore, initially handling around 150 flights daily.
Future expansion plans include five runways with a capacity for seven crore passengers annually.
After completing the airport inspection, the Chief Minister travelled to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, updating him on the progress of the Noida International Airport and extending an invitation for its inauguration.
The discussions were also believed to touch upon the upcoming Bihar elections and potential changes in the state’s organisational structure and cabinet. During the visit, he also called on President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan.
