World's Third-Longest Extradosed Bridge Connecting Jharkhand And Bihar To Be Ready By 2024
Work progressing on building new link NH-133B (@nitin_gadkari/Twitter)The new bridge on River Ganga connecting Sahibganj in Jharkhand with Manihari in Bihar is slated to be completed by October 2024.
This six km long bridge, designated as the world's third-longest extradosed bridge after its completion, will reduce travel distance to just 1/10th of the present one.
It is part of the project to build a 21.68 km new link NH-133B between Jharkhand and Bihar. This project involves the Ganga Bridge, construction of the Manihari bypass and widening of NH-131A.
Upon its completion, this new highway link will serve as a strategic connecting point to North-Eastern India and reduce the traffic congestion at Vikram Shila Setu bridge in Bhagalpur.
Around 2,750 construction workers have been engaged to deliver this project costing Rs 1,900 crore.
"New India is being forged with the vision of incredible infrastructure everywhere. The project for the construction of new link NH-133B from 0.200 km in Jharkhand to 15.885 km including Ganga Bridge and construction of Manihari bypass from 0.000 km to 5.500 km and widening of NH-131A from 5.500 km to 6.000 km in the state of Bihar to four-Lane standards is in full swing," Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari said.
