In a major development in the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), the government has finally restored 2G mobile internet services in the Jammu division, while a phased withdrawal of restrictions has begun in Rajouri district of the state, UNI.
The internet services had been restored at around midnight, with limited and slow speed having been sanctioned for the time being as a preventive measure. This has being done to make sure that no misleading or rumour-mongering content is circulated on social media which could end up causing law and order disruptions.
In light of Article 370’s revocation, telecom services had been suspended for the very reason to prevent any kind of law and order problems arising.
Meanwhile, people on social media platforms celebrated the restoration on internet services in the region. Also to be noted, in Rajouri district of the state, authorities have started easing restrictions with Section 144 being declared to be operational only in the night hours from 9 pm to 5 am.
