Even as veteran Congress leader P Chidambaram remains in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over his alleged role in the INX Media case, a notice has now been issued by the Bar Council of India to him and his wife on the basis of a complaint accusing the couple of misusing their senior advocate designation, reports The Times of India.
The notice has been sent by a special four-member committee of the BCI, asking the lawyer couple to appear before it on 28 September.
The complainant in the matter is J Gopikrishnan, who has stated that when Chidambaram appeared before the Supreme Court in his senior advocate robes during a hearing his anticipatory bail plea on 16 January 2019, the same amounted to an unethical misuse of the designation.
"After perusal of the complaint, and in the interest of justice, the committee is to issue notice to P Chidambaram, senior advocate, and his wife Nalini Chidambaram, senior advocate, as well as to the complainant J Gopikrishnan, to appear before the committee on September 28 at 11.30am at Bar Council of India either in person or through their counsel,” read the committee’s order.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
