Senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut who has been instrumental in forging the party’s alliance with the Congress and NCP has declared that both the Congress and the whole of Gandhi family is Hindutvawadi, Loksatta has reported.
As per the report, Raut claimed that Jawaharal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and even Janeudhari Rahul Gandhi are Hindutwavadis, while speaking at an event in Pune. He made this statement about being questioned about Shiv Sena abandoning Hindutva after joining hands with Congress-NCP.
During the same statement Raut added that politics and religion should not be intermixed.
This statement comes in the light of Raut announcement that Shiv Sena has officially quit the NDA but is yet to fully join the UPA. Shiv Sena though already agrees with the UPA on quite a few national issues.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
