The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has for the first time in the history failed to win a single seat in the Lok Sabha polls as the NDA coalition swept through 39 out of 40 seats. Congress managed to win a solitary seat.
The RJD now led by convicted politician Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son had decided to stitch an alliance with the Congress but it failed to work in his party’s favour. The party was also rocked by infighting when Lalu’s other son Tej Pratab Yadav decided to rebel over differences and even went on to form his own party.
Incidentally, just prior to the release of Exit Polls, Rabri Devi the former Bihar chief minister and the wife of Lalu had predicted that the Gathbandhan will win around 400 seats.
