Mangalore international airport was on high alert after a bag was found abandoned outside the terminal building on Monday (20 January), morning. The bag contained components of low intensity improvised explosive device (IED), reported Times Of India.

“The bag contained all components of IED — battery, wire, timer, switch, detonator and explosive. An alert has been sounded at Mangalore Airport. BDDS and police are searching the terminal building,” said sources.
Recently appointed Mangaluru Police Commissioner P S Harsha immediately rushed to the airport along with a police team to take stock of the situation and all precaution were taken as per standard protocol.
Security personal are carefully looking at CCTV footage to help them identify who put the bag containing the explosives outside the terminal building.
