Reiterating his push for the implementation of a nation-wide National Register of Citizens (NRC), the Union Minister for Home Affairs, Amit Shah said yesterday (9 October) that all the infiltrators would be made to leave the country before the next general elections, reports Asian News International (ANI).
While speaking at a political rally in Haryana's Kaithal, Shah went on to assert, "Before we come to ask for votes in 2024, let me assure you the BJP government will make sure every infiltrator is thrown out of the country."
Training his guns at Congress heavyweight Randeep Surjewala who is the party's candidate from the seat for the upcoming state assembly elections, Shah said, "Congress and Surjjewala oppose this move. Who will make them understand? The people of Kaithal will make them understand or not? Ask Congress why they oppose abrogation of Article 370 and throwing out of infiltrators."
Shah has in recent times strengthened the discourse around a nation-wide implementation of the NRC exercise to identify the illegal immigrants across the nation.
It should be noted that after the completion of NRC exercise in Assam, Chief Ministers Yogi Adityanath and Manohar Lal Khattar of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana respectively have also promised the implementation of NRC in their states.
