Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's cousin and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Bihar Neeraj Kumar Bablu has served a legal notice to Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut over his statements on Rajput's family.

Bablu has asked Raut to apologise for his remarks within 48 hours or face leagl action, as per a Times Now report on Wednesday (12 August).

In his recent remarks in a Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana article, Raut had claimed that the relations between Sushant and his father K K Singh were strained, due to the latter's second marriage.

While the Shiv Sena MP's statement drew major criticism and controversy, Rajput's family termed them defamatory and sought an unconditional apology from Raut. The kin also denied the news of K K Singh's remarriage.

Earlier, speaking to reporters in Patna, Bablu had slammed Raut's remarks. "How can you make such a comment in such a sensitive case without knowing the facts? If need be, I will file a defamation case,” he said.

Yesterday, Bihar's Director-General of Police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey also said that Raut's remarks were baseless and also alleged him of using "unparliamentary language" for state's Chief Minister (CM) Nitish Kumar.

"I heard he used unparliamentary language for Bihar CM also. He said baseless things about Sushant Singh Rajput's father and me that are untrue. He is not aware of facts. He is a responsible person and should not have done this," Pandey had said.

The Bollywood actor was found dead at his Mumbai apartment on 14 June. While according to Mumbai police he died by suicide, several allegations have recently been made that it could be a planned murder.

The probe has now been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after Mumbai and Bihar police were conducting two separate investigations, simultaneously, in the matter.
