Historian Ramachandra Guha was among those detained by Bengaluru police on Thursday (19 December) after he and others were openly seen defying Section 144 imposed in the city.
He was protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) along with fellow protesters.

In a video shared on social media, Guha can be seen protesting against his imminent detention and later also resisted the cops who tried to take him away.
Section 144 was imposed in the city from Wednesday (18 December) and all permissions provided for anti-CAA protests were cancelled.

Incidentally, besides Guha, Yogendra Yadav too has been detained by the cops. He was protesting against CAA in Delhi.
It has been reported that the NSUI (student wing of the Congress) is instrumental in organising nationwide anti-CAA protests.
