Home Minister Amit Shah in a telephonic conversation with Delhi Police Commissioner instructed him to take strict action against those landlords who have allegedly been asking doctors and nurses treating coronavirus patients to vacate their houses, ANI has reported.
As per reports, this instruction is a result of various claims made by doctors on social media who have alleged that they are facing discrimination and threats from their housing societies as they have been treating Covid-19 patients.
The doctors claim that they are being stopped from entering their homes by neighbours who fear that they would spread the infection. In another claim made by a Telangana doctor, their house owners are asking them to vacate their residences as they would make them “dirty”.
Incidentally, a similar ostracisation is being faced by airline employees including cabin crew members.
Air India on Sunday (23 March) said that its crew who have been successfully evacuating stranded Indians in several coronavirus-hit countries are being ostracised by vigilante groups including their neighbours and Resident Welfare Associations (RWA).
Even IndiGo cabin crew members have made similar claims.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
