Believe It Or Not: Political Parties Got Only Rs 102 Crore In Donations During 2015-16

Seven national political parties have declared the donation received by them in amounts larger than Rs 20,000. According to data accessed by Time of India, presented in the chart below, donations saw a sharp decrease of 84 per cent as compared to last year.
The fall in donations was most drastic in the case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and All India Trinamool Congress. While donations to Mamata shrunk by 92.17 per cent, those for Sharad Pawar shrunk by 98.17 per cent. For congress, which received just 1/7th of what it usually does, saw donations decrease by over 85.57 per cent.
Congress-led Karnataka topped the list of states from where the most cash donation came. Another Congress-ruled state, Meghalaya, come in at close second, followed by AAP-led Delhi.
