Hundreds of Congress workers on Monday (16 March) gathered outside the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office in Bengaluru to felicitate newly appointed state party president D K Shivakumar, ANI reported.
Incidentally, this development comes despite strict guidelines against public gatherings put in place by the Karnataka government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
The steps taken by the state government to curb mass gathering include shutting down malls, theatres, education institutes and commercial establishments for a week.
These measures also include curbs on private events like weddings, which will be reviewed after a week.
Countries such as Italy have already announced a virtual lockdown in the country to prevent the spread of coronavirus amid mounting death toll.
